In November of 2006 Unfriendly and I drove down to Palm Bay to have our first Thanksgiving in about 7 years with his folks. Of course, I needed a project to knit while being there. I decided to try my hand at this poncho pattern, One Baaad Poncho. The thought was to knit something up in time to send for my mom for Christmas.

It is now June.

I am one REALLY SLOW knitter

I picked up some TLC yarn at the local Hobby Lobby for this baaad endeavor. My mom likes pinks and reds so I decided upon Rose and Claret.

I'm not usually one to stick to a pattern all the time. I decided that I would improvise with two colors and see where the knitting journey would take me.

By February, I had gotten this far.

Pumpkin puts in her 2.5 cents
The knitting is in the way of MY LAP. Human, I require my lap.

This is what it looked like before seaming one of the short edges to one of the longer sides. I didn't quite take into account how curly stockinette stitch truly is, but it is what the pattern called for.

Since the pattern called for doing a single crochet along the neckline and hem to help with the curling, I decided to try a single crochet to seam the piece together. I like the way it came out with the claret as the main color down the front. Oh, and may I introduce you to my mannequin, Annie. She reminds me a bit of Annie Lennox, ergo ...

My mom is a bit fussy about rolly collars. She's a bit OCD too, so I figured, though it looked fine as above, she might want something a bit different. I'd been itching to try some of the edgings in my Knitting On the Edge book, so I tried one of the lace patterns that produced a scalloped edge and joined the piece the the neckline to make a collar.

This is how looked before blocking

The single crochet only helps so much with the curling. You can't tell but the claret edges on the body have the ligher rose single crocheted edge. Here it is after blocking.

This is what the back looks like.
